When you dream, your body is paralyzed.

In the first 90 minutes of sleep, you go through deepening stages ranging from light sleep to deep sleep.

Then you enter a phase called REM sleep (REM is short for Rapid Eye Movement) During REM sleep, the rest of your body essentially becomes paralyzed. The release of certain neurotransmitters are shut down and your large muscles do not move.

Some people have abnormal REM sleep in which those neurotransmitters do not shut down, and they act out their dreams. Most of the dreams we vividly remember happen during REM, as our brain has higher activity during this phase.

We are all living in the past!

Scientists have discovered that there is a tiny 80 millisecond lag between the external reality and your brain processing the information. This time is slightly longer than a blink of an eye. Scientists compare this to the way live television is not really live but rather on a shot delay so there can be time to edit anything inappropriate (like wardrobe malfunctions).

There is a girl in Scotland who may die if she brushes her hair.

Why? The 13 year-old has a syndrome, appropriately called “hair brushing syndrome.” The risk to her is that her brain might shut down because of static electricity, which is often generated when hair is brushed.

She also can’t touch balloons, or wear shiny clothing. To get around this, she has to brush her hair upside down, and her hair hanging on the side of her bed, and her hair must be damp. They found this out one day when her mom was brushing her hair and she “flopped over and her lips turned blue,” as her mother said.

What would you do if you couldn’t brush your hair normally?

Samsung’s chairman was so unhappy with its products, he burnt $50 million worth of products in front of their employees

This was back in 1996., in Gumi, South Korea, home to one of Samsung’s biggest production plants. Back in the 90s Samsung was known for their AC units and TVs. However, their chairman, Kun-Hee Lee had bigger aspirations for the company.

The first step towards Samsung’s transformation was a cell phone that the chariman had sent out as his New Years gift in 1995. Word came back that the cellphones didn’t work. So, Lee visited the plant in Gumi and made all 2,000 employees wear headbands that said Quality First.

He then took them to the courtyard where their entire inventory was, about $50 million worth, with a banner that said Quality is my pride. He lit the whole inventory on fire and made them watch it burn to teach them a lesson.

You might consider the lesson learned. Since then, Samsung has become one of the biggest technology companies in the world.

Peace is not the absence of war, but the feeling you get from remembering the Lord. ♥
